HVLP spraying equipment has several advantages in use, for instance:

• The Amount compressed of air held in the air reservoir is quite high in this type of spray gun, but the air is used at a very low pressure.

• The advantage of using this sort of equipment is that the amount of paint used is comparatively low and most of the paint from the spray gun ends up on the panel and does not end up painting the atmosphere before clogging your paint filters in your mask.

• The gun still has to be "on the move" when depressing the paint trigger but the spray is less violent and therefore more controllable. The paint atomizes at a very low pressure, in fact these paint sprayers should never be used above 10 psi, I tend to spray between one and two and a half bar.

• One of the major advantages from my point of view is that any overspray is kept to an absolute minimum.

The hvlp spray gun atomizes the paint into tiny droplets and deposits them on the surface to be painted. Because the paint has such a low viscosity it has very low bounce back.

This fact, in conjunction with the low air pressure is why we have such an efficient use of paint.

The cleanup to adjacent panels is virtually nonexistent.

Also with a hvlp spray gun the amount of dangerous VOC's released into the air is reduced (although The Chips Away paints use no VOC's, for me the advantage is that the paint ends up where its actually intended - on the panel).
