A garage parking sensor is a ...
...must have bit of kit for any tight areas. Garage parking aids are not used nearly enough by most poeple.
That garage parking aid can be as simple or sophisticated as you likeWith the advent of the reversing sensor a garage parking sensor is still a must. Most garages are full of clutter and relying on those “beeps” is no comparison to knowing the exact moment you are safely docked! In my travels I have seen a number of brilliant systems - and ones not so friendly. The parking system most used and also the most painful parking system imaginable is the one where—after a few glasses of wine—you remember that fine port you left in the garage for a special occasion —and decide to liberate it! As you race towards the port, your toe slams into that lump of wood you screwed to the floor for the purpose of stopping the car before it hits the breeze blocks handily holding the rest of the house up. If you were unlucky enough to be returning with the port it would have left your grip the very instant you writhed in agony reaching for you wounded foot! As you sit — tears in your eyes, — nursing what feels like a broken toe. You have time to reflect there might have been a better solution!
Garages were wide enough then!
There are, I can tell you, some much better solutions on offer.
- The simplest and best has to include a simple cork hanging on a string from the ceiling.
- Simply drive forward until the cork touches the windshield and you are home.
- So simple, a diagram is not even required!
- Simply adjust the beam to rest on a desired position on your dash board.
- Set the laser to activate only when you have the garage door open and you have a garage parking sensor that will not have your eye out by racing into a cork!
- OK we now know the exact moment when to stop the car!

The solution a very simple garage parking sensor Now imagine if that cork we started off talking about, hung down from the ceiling in the exact centre of your driving seat. i.e. right against the bridge of your nose while you were in the driving position! If you were then to paint a white mark on your garage wall lined up with the cork you would see that if you simply drove forward, keeping the cork aligned with the white mark you would be safely berthed. Are you keeping with me here? Just keep inching forward until your windscreen touches the cork. YOU ARE HOME! Of course you would have to start the maneuver at a sensible angle to the garage in the first place. i.e wheels straight when you begin the manouver and not turning the car. Now, if only you could find a way of exiting the car. Because brilliantly, the car door only opens 18 inches before touching the bit of old carpet you sensibly attached to the breeze block wall, to stop the door being damaged – Or you could use the sunroof!Return From Garage Parking Sensor To Home
