...online. To find an exact car paint color sample for your auto without making a mistake in the auto paint color samples is explained.
The difficulty lies in the miniscule differences between the same color!.auto paint color charts?
Hi, I have included a scan of a car paint color sample below. I use these “chips” to establish the exact color required for a localized repair as you will see the car paint color sample would be pretty useless to get the exact match from a computer screen.
If you got the shade just a tad out all your efforts would come to nothing. OK... OK... a skilled paint sprayer can blend the area being resprayed. He or she would to do his best to hide the mismatch — but it is always better to home in on the correct match in the first place. Even the best choice of alternate paint colour needs blending. For instance if you were to spay paint, precisely the correct colour match in the middle of one of your neighbors car doors. Using — say, a hard edge like masking tape. Your neighbor would be inevitably drawn to the strange square shaped something on his previously perfect door, and almost immediately his smoldering eyes would be drawn to your brand new spray painting kit which you unwisely left outside the previous afternoon. So we do need to blend the new paint a little but not try to blend out such a bad color match that we end up painting half the car! So, why do the manufactured make paints for their autos that do not match! And change the match every few months! Well it's really not their fault the Pigments that make up each batch on the production line can be subtly altered By just one of the many pigments used to make the paint. The lesson here is — unless you are painting all of the vehicle get the company mixing the paint to find the correct alternate colour. That way you are sure to be getting the nearest match possible. OK... below you can see some of my samples that I use to determine a colour match. You just cannot take your computer screen and hold it right next to the car being worked on — not to mention every screen renders the colours differently. NO, the match must be done by eye against the manufacturers original paint chips. These scans are from some original auto paint color charts.car paint color sample
Even I was shocked by how inaccurate the scans were compared to the original colour chips.
I used a Canon 8600F which is certainly not a bad scanner.
The metallic particles in the chips scattered the light. I can tell you that the Fiat Lancia 3—043 is nothing like the colour sample above. Photography seems no better as the reflections from the shiny surface mean you still cannot get a good match. The original paint chips are without doubt the only way to go.
I do hope this has answered your question on auto paint color charts. It might not have been the answer you wanted to hear — but should save you from making a costly mistake in the long run.
